Engine Consulting and Support Service

Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) offers an Engine Consulting and Support Service (ECSS) to provide members with information and analysis required for engine design, development, and product planning. The service provides answers to specific inquiries through written replies and personal presentations. Members also receive technology presentations on the topics of their choice. SwRI's professional staff applies its broad technical experience to provide the highest quality of information to ECSS members.

The Engine Consulting and Support Service includes:

  • Engines, transmissions, fuels, lubricants, and emissions expertise
  • Detailed replies to questions from members
  • Two consulting visits annually
  • Reports on SwRI research
  • Timely reports on U.S. emissions legislation
  • Reports and presentations addressing general-interest topics

Services

The Institute responds to questions within 48 hours, with more detailed follow-up and analysis if required. Reports on subjects of general interest, including U.S. emissions legislation updates, will also be disseminated to members.

Complex issues are often better addressed through personal contact. The SwRI service offers one- or two-day visits to members twice annually for presentations and discussions addressing issues of specific interest to the member. Topics can be set before the visit or raised during the meeting. In the latter case, a follow-up reply may also be required. During these visits, Institute staff members may also address topics of general interest, unrestricted SwRI research, and emissions issues.

The service can be customized to meet individual members' needs; it can include, for example, additional visits, members' visits to the Institute, or additional engineering services.

The Engine Consulting and Support Service is supported by more than 100 professionals in the Engine, Emissions and Vehicle Research Division, with additional support from 3,300 Institute specialists in a wide variety of technologies.

The service is designed to allow members to select the number of consulting hours required to carry out investigations and analyses for the member, in addition to the base service. Contact ECSS for additional information and consulting fee quotations. Organizations can join the service at any time.
