We solve a comprehensive range of fuel and filtration problems. We work on technical challenges that not only reduce costs for U.S. military operations but may also save countless numbers of lives during active combat. We work with gas turbine combustion, alternative fuels and emissions control, laser and optical combustion diagnostics and aviation fuel nozzle coking research. We assess fuel and fluid flammability hazard assessments, fuel system components, fuel injection system wear and performance and jet fuel use in diesel equipment. We perform tribology, engine dynamometer evaluations, bench tests, fuel system materials compatibility and fuels/hardware interactions and test rig design.
For more than five decades, the GVSC Fuels and Lubricants Research Facility (GFLRF) has been on the campus of SwRI. The GFLRF is a government-owned contractor-operated (GOCO) facility that provides state-of-the-art research, development, and engineering services. Augmented by the diverse staff and modern facilities available at SwRI, the GFLRF facility competently conducts fuels and lubricants research for the U.S. Army, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, other government agencies and commercial clients.
