Tom Slick Jr. founded Southwest Research Institute in 1947, a small nonprofit organization located at a cattle ranch on the outskirts of San Antonio. SwRI has since grown into a worldwide leader in research and development, with programs ranging from deep sea to deep space and everything in between.
