Southwest Research Institute, GTI Energy, GE Global Research and the U.S. DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory celebrated the mechanical completion of the STEP Demo 10 MWe sCO2 pilot plant, which began construction on SwRI’s San Antonio headquarters in 2018. The $155 million, 10-megawatt supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) test facility will demonstrate the next generation of higher-efficiency, lower-cost electric power technology.
