In this image, natural gas is discharged through a two-inch diameter pipe and ignited as part of an SwRI-conducted test to evaluate pressure relief valves. Temperatures and heat fluxes were measured at different standoff distances to provide computer model validation data that can aid future researchers as they investigate a variety of accident scenarios.
