Durda also has flown numerous research missions in NASA high performance F-18s, trained in centrifuges, in zero-G, and in F-104 high performance aircraft. He was a shuttle mission specialist candidate who has passed NASA astronaut flight physicals. He is also an instrument rated commercial pilot, and a certified cave rescue diver.
