The SwRI Particle Science and Technology Laboratory team is testing N95 and KN95 respirators and surgical masks for quality assurance. Engineers cut out a sample of mask material to evaluate particle filtration and flow resistance. The team previously focused solely on engine emission particle testing. They began testing mask materials for health care, government and industry clients in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
