The diverse, collaborative teams of scientists and engineers at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) work for government and industry clients globally on projects spanning deep sea to deep space and everything in-between. SwRI’s GSA ASTRO contract spans technical services across many Market Segments and applications, including the following.

DEFENSE & SECURITY

We evaluate weapons and armors including large and small ballistics and explosives. We perform work in radio frequency, cybersecurity, and signal analysis to advance industry network and homeland security. In addition to our testing and evaluation work, we provide world-class aerospace and aircraft solutions, and develop highly advanced, custom defense systems, large antennas, and sophisticated armors.

ELECTRONICS & AUTOMATION

We design and develop custom software programs and products, robotics, automated manufacturing systems, communications electronics, and industrial engineering solutions. Our programs are used in operations and maintenance for military and commercial manned aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and training systems.

AUTOMOTIVE & TRANSPORTATION

We develop and evaluate engines, fuels, lubricants, emissions, autonomous vehicles, intelligent transportation systems, and traffic management systems.
