Technologically enhanced naturally occurring radioactive material (TENORM) is generated by industrial, mineral extraction, and water treatment processes. These materials have potential to contaminate groundwater and surface water sources, as well as being a health and safety hazard from ingestion, inhalation, and direct radiation.
We offer technical and regulatory expertise in radiochemistry, environmental process monitoring, numerical modeling, and evaluation of waste management. Capabilities include:
- Advanced laboratory facilities for radiochemical analyses and bench-scale testing of radionuclide transport and stabilization processes
- Public domain and proprietary computational analyses for multimedia modeling and probabilistic risk assessment
- Facilities for large-scale pilot testing of potential disposal configurations, monitoring technologies, and abatement methods on SwRI’s 1,200-acre site
