The Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2-ICE2) Consortium gathers engine and truck manufacturers, fuel and lubricant providers and Tier-I suppliers with a unified vision of advancing sustainable mobility through innovative hydrogen engine technology.
During 2023-2024, the first iteration of the consortium developed an H2-ICE demonstration vehicle that produces ultra-low NOx and CO2 emissions while still providing enough torque and power for heavy-duty applications.
In 2025-2026, the second iteration will leverage the hydrogen-fueled, Class-8 demonstration vehicle to focus on several topics of interest, including: vehicle performance, fuel economy, unique and extreme conditions, aftertreatment control, exhaust thermal management, in-use emissions measurements, vehicle control strategies, safety, diagnostics and other topics.
