NASA has selected Southwest Research Institute to lead the Dating an Irregular Mare Patch with a Lunar Explorer, or DIMPLE, payload team. The lunar lander/rover instrument suite will use a camera and radioisotope-based dating to determine the age and composition of this mysteriously young-looking patch of basalt known as Ina, shown here in Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter image.
