Electrified Vehicle and Energy Storage Evaluation-II (EVESE-II)

The Electrified Vehicle and Energy Storage Evaluation-II (EVESE-II) Consortium, hosted by Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), is the next evolution of our highly successful EVESE program. Launching in August 2024, EVESE-II will build upon our established expertise in battery cell research and expand our focus to include module and pack research, with an emphasis on immersion cooling, test standards, safety testing, and applications beyond electric vehicles, such as charging and V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) systems.

For more information, please contact Andre Swarts or call +1 210 522 6631.

EVESE-II Focus Areas

EVESE-II will provide will pursue the following three interrelated research areas:

  • Module and Pack Research: Including immersion cooling, safety testing, and emerging test standards.
  • Applications Research: Exploring new frontiers in charging, V2X systems and in-service cell diagnostics while moving away from vehicle benchmarking tasks.
  • Cell Research: Advancing our understanding of test repeatability, aging research, fast charging and expanding research into large cell size and emerging cell chemistries.

Consortium Structure & Participation

EVESE-II will run for a four-year period from August 2024 to August 2028, with an annual renewal option. The program will commence once a minimum of ten memberships have been secured. Members of the consortium will have the opportunity to select from existing proposed topics or suggest new ones, with final scope determined through member voting.
